Don't you want my money?

Don't you want my money?

I remember reading that Game of Thrones was the most downloaded series in 2016. It's a pity; I'm sure that everybody needs and wants and deserves to get paid if they're doing a good job. I won't pretend to be a saint, but let's just say that if a series is available in the country where I live, in English, with English subtitles, I am more than happy to pay to watch it.

Mobile phone problems

Mobile phone problems

I like my phone. I have a very specific need for my phones, they have to be dual-sim. I used to have a couple of Motorola Gs but after the screen broke at the last one, and I messed with the speaker on my attempt to change it, I was looking for a new one. Bsides Hannover 2017

In March 2017 I visited Hannover in Germany for the Security BSides conference. My first Bsides. I had the opportunity to present one of my favourite subjects, how security can help business grow. The venue was nice, and the presentations were very interesting and some of them eye-opening. Overall I really enjoyed the conference; the setup and organisation was very good and all the participants were friendly. That helped having interesting discussions; always useful if you are eager to learn more things and see other peoples' perspectives.

The discussion about talent and skill shortage in areas such as IT and mainly Information or Cyber Security is getting significantly more intense. At the same time, the unemployment in EU ranges from 5% to 25% (1). And the usual time to fill a position is over 3 months, in cases can reach even to a year (2), with just the interview process to be close to one month in most countries (3, 4). These are alarming indicators about how effective the recruiting industry is - or is not.

In October of 2016 I travelled to Dublin in Ireland, to present at the two-day event organized by (ISC)2. I took advantage of the pre-congress workshops which were eye - opening in many aspects. The event, (ISC2) Security Congress EMEA 2016, titled "Advancing Security Leaders" took place at the Croke Park Stadium and it was a huge success.
